ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Survey Assistant or Junior Surveyor will work alongside an experienced surveyor and perform traditional construction staking of infrastructure and local features for quantity mapping. Previous experience with survey equipment including GPS rovers is required, but ASN Constructors is open to training those with limited exposure to certain types of survey equipment.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all Survey and Layout activities as directed
  • Performs review tasks (QA/QC) for 3D modeling and grading
  • Maintain, track, inventory, manage and coordinate use of GPS, survey and machine control equipment
  • Conducts topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities
  • Documents surveying activities through the use of field notes
  • Maintains surveying equipment
  • Coordinates surveying activities with the Survey Manager to meet the construction requirements
  • Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values, and goals
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction


Requirements

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Developing understanding of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • Good cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
  • Good math skills, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Technical school diploma/certificate in a related program a plus
  • Valid Driver's License required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
