Best known for Little Debbie snack cakes, America's leading snack cake brand, Sunbelt Bakery Granola products, and Drake's Cakes, McKee Foods Corporation is seeking a Food Technology Intern to join the Manufacturing Services team in Gentry, AR. Pay

$16.67-$22.00 per hour, Depending on educational level and work experience

Schedule

Flexible depending on the intern's school schedule:

Monday - Friday, hours vary between 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (expected to work around 20 hours per week during school year and up to 40 during summer).

Job Summary

The purpose of an internship at McKee Foods Corporation is to provide real-world experience for the student while generating productive work that contributes to our business objectives. The intern will utilize and supplement the knowledge they have gained in school to accomplish assigned tasks and projects. The assigned work will provide the intern with relevant work experience producing insight into their field of study or future career opportunities.

  • Optimizing food safety and food defense programs
  • Collecting and analyzing data in support of food safety activities
  • Developing a food safety awareness and food safety culture library
  • Participating in process improvement events and initiatives
  • Providing regular updates to management on project status
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollmentin a related, accredited degree program of study with at least 4 full semesters of a BS and/or MS degree program
  • Undergraduate or graduate work which includes successful completion of courses in some or all of the following areas: Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Chemistry,
  • Computer skills: Must be proficient in using Microsoft's Word and Excel programs
  • Self-motivated, with strong initiative and self-direction
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively alone or in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or other science field
  • Previous food manufacturing experience
  • Prior technical work experience
