PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Oversee and direct all aspects of large chamber projects, from planning to implementation
  • Regular in-depth project review to ensure scheduled deliverables and costs
  • Supervise and coordinate onsite personnel and subcontractors
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
  • Review the work progress daily
  • Oversee and enforce overall site safety compliance for all contractors, client personnel, and the general public around construction areas
  • Initiate all injury and near-miss investigations and completes initial injury documentation and forwards it to direct supervisors
  • Prepare internal and external reports about job status
  • Regularly communicate with the assigned project manager on all site issues and planning
  • Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city and county officials, and clients
  • Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Ensure company and department policies and procedures regarding installations are followed
  • Complete work as assigned by supervisor
  • Work in a team environment, be quality-conscious and strive for continuous quality improvement
  • First 12 months will be based in Birmingham, AL, then after will be determined
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices
  • Excellent planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies
  • Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues
  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
  • Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, and procedure manuals
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and computer knowledge
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong analytical skills and personal initiative
  • Ability to work well under pressure
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • BS in construction management/engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
  • Proven working experience in construction management
  • 5 years of working experience as a construction superintendent
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Welding experience or adjacent knowledge is preferred
  • Experience with construction management software packages including ProCore
  • Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goalsetting, and conflict management
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Extensive travel for long-term chamber projects in excess of 6 months
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
  • Valid Driver's License
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
