Job Description

Position Summary

The Salvation Army Bismark/Mandan Corps is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; youth programming, and connections to community partners.

The Youth Development Assistant is responsible for assisting with youth programming and activities.

25 hours/week, $15.50/hour

Essential Functions (Approximate time spent)

  • Assist with planning and leading youth programming, events, trips, and activities in a variety of areas including spiritual, educational, recreational, and relational. (80%)
  • Participate in Worship and Christian education programs including supporting leadership with planning, preaching, and teaching. (10%)
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry. (5%)
  • Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%)

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in youth programming, ministry, or social services is required.
  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, Senior Soldier in good standing preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications, and pass background check.

  • Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence.
  • Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical work and must be able to lift 50 pounds required.
  • Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must be able to drive, sit, communicate clearly, and work in person or on the phone.
  • Work hours will include evenings and occasional weekends.
