Want to work for an employee-owned global firm with the small-company feel? We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist 1 position in our Sioux Falls office to work on diverse projects in the Dakotas and Wyoming and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist 1, you will be an integral part of a dynamic environmental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our engineering and environmental consulting projects, contributing expertise in regulatory compliance and environmental review. As an Environmental Scientist 1 you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to identify environmental resources, address project challenges, and provide solutions to our clients. Our team takes a proactive approach to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.

In the role of Environmental Scientist 1, we'll count on you to

  • Help collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for rare or special-status species, coordination with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc
  • Assimilate and manage data
  • Prepare environmental constraints mapping and analyze electronic spatial data (e.g. ArcPro)
  • Assist with conducting and documenting environmental analysis, such as National Environmental Policy Act Review
  • Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
  • Assist public and private clients with environmental review, permit coordination, and environmental compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as needed
  • Work with mid-level and senior level scientists to provide quality work to agencies and our clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • MS Office experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
