Duration: 3-month contract with potential for direct hire
Client: A Fortune 500 Company

Position Summary

The Senior Purchasing Specialist (Commodity Manager) will play a key role in global procurement and supply chain functions, directly supporting operations in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. You will manage purchase orders, foster relationships with suppliers, and streamline operational effectiveness. As a liaison between the organization and its suppliers, you will guide the purchasing team to success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead purchasing and order management activities to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Verify the accuracy of supplier and purchase order data in ERP systems, addressing supply chain disruptions as needed.
  • Conduct material cost analysis, managing costs and updating standards in ERP systems.
  • Utilize material/commodity index models to understand their impact on the total cost of ownership.
  • Execute cost-saving projects and spearhead supplier warranty recovery initiatives.
  • Drive performance and value capture through long-term supply agreement projects.
  • Oversee supplier performance recovery and risk mitigation, leading discussions and reviews.
  • Manage price increases and negotiate effectively with suppliers.
  • Prepare suppliers for product launches in collaboration with NPD, supporting mid/high-impact program readiness.
  • Participate in supply chain optimization to minimize waste and improve material flow.
  • Engage in category council initiatives, offering mentorship to purchasing coordinators.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant purchasing experience.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
  • Previous purchasing experience in manufacturing.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based applications.
